Umbrellina

2009 – Umbrellina

About This Project

In 2008th carnival it was raining very badly during the parade days. We had a serious problem to keep our costumes dry – one was even spoiled by the rain. So I thought: “why not make an umbrella costume”. This costume has about 5,000 rhine-stones on it. The skirt is made of eight umbrellas and the fabulous umbrella on the head piece is a donation by the Canadian umbrella designer John DiCesare, who designs and makes these in Japan (link to his blog). The umbrella on the walking stick of the lackey is also by DiCesare.

It is the first costume I made in which it is impossible to sit down on a normal chair.
