1st prize for best costume in Carnevale di Venezia 2009

Oops, we did it again. The miracle happened and together with a group I completed the hattrick and won the Venetian Carnival a third time in a row! This is freaking awsome and historical!

In general it was an awsome season this year! To do it all with a whole lot of friends was amazing. Crapload of work and stress but so much worth it! I loved all the happy faces and had a lot of fun tricking some people with keeping low profile and my mouth shut on the costumes my Italian and German friends wore. I sometimes snug out after dressing the others and spent half an hour incognito in the audience listening to what the people in the crowd said when my costumes were up stage. I was so flattered by the comments people made while I was standing next to them in the crowd. I was happy and proud to hear how much they loved what I did and also which details they noticed. I felt like a happy little thief who just completed a big coup. To hear all these uninfluenced, pure comments was a huge pay off for all my work. Better than money!

Sure I am happy and thankful for the beautiful, expensive Murano vase we got as a prize (the vase will stay with the other winners, I just take the nice red box that came with it to put my Venice trinkets in it) and the 4-star-hotel voucher for a weekend (which we were never able to use cause the sponsor just allowed us to come in december which was impossible for us), but the best salary for me are the happy faces of my partners-in-crime and the visitors in the streets.

It was wonderful and the weather was also splendid this time again. Everything was perfect.

I would like to express my deep thank you to three very special people here without whom this experience would not have been so perfect: Robbie, thank you for all what you do to support and inspire me. Thanks for taking care of and inspiring our little angel Sophia. Thanks for opening not only your heart, but also your family, house and world to me. That is so unusual and special. I am out of words for that. You are superwoman, my Dearest! Sophia, my fantastic little daughter. Since you were born I am just winning. In Venice and in life. I cannot believe how much you already understand and make possible for us. With just two years that you are on this planet. You are amazing! I am sooooo thankful to having you as my daughter and I am very, very proud of you! And Maria, thanks for taking so much good care of us and giving me the honour to wear my costume.

My dear friends and people who just happen to read this, I am sooo blessed and happy in this life. I wish you all the best and courage to make your dreams come true. Do not hesitate to think and dream big! Go for the good things in you and dare to try. Enjoy every good second of this life that often has hard challenges for each of us (as we had to learn hard later in september of 2009 when we lost our second baby Matteo in the sixth month of pregnancy. Life can be very, very cruel and I can just say that carnival (making costumes, wearing them and meet so many great people helps me survive the pain) and your life will get better every day by focusing on the good sides.

I wish you all the best and if you feel like writing me, do.

Sincerely, Tanja
